MAIDUGURI—WIFE and daughter to Shehu of Bama,
Alhaji Kyari Ibn Ibrahim Elkanemi, abducted by Boko
Haram insurgents two years ago, have regained their
freedom.
Sources said when the General Officer Commanding 7
Division, Nigeria Army, Brig. Gen. Victor Ezugwu, who
brought the Queen and her daughter to Shehu of Bama in
Maiduguri, yesterday at about 1:30p.m., some relations
wept, while others were jubilating.
It would be recalled that Queen Hajju was abducted in
2014 along with two of her children during deadly attacks
on Bama town, which was later taken over by the
insurgents.
Unfortunately, her son was killed by the insurgents,
leaving her daughter and the Queen in Boko Haram
captivity, before troops rescued them during their
operations around Damboa axis within the week.
A family source, who spoke on condition of anonymity,
disclosed that when the royal father sighted his wife, he
wept profusely, while some family members embraced the
Queen and her daughter.
Some dignitaries who visited the resident of Shehu of
Bama to welcome the returnees include wife of Borno
State Governor, Hajiya Nana Shettima; Deputy Governor
Usman Durkwa and other government functionaries.
