Real Madrid megastar Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded the best international in 2016 athlete by ESPN .
The 31-year-old beat Luis Suarez, Novak Djokovic, Canelo Alvarez and Lydia Ko to win the prestigious award.
Ronaldo has been ecstatic in the 2015/2016 calendar year winning both the Champions League and Euro 2016 with Real Madrid and Portugal respectively.

CR7’s three Euro 2016 goals which equaled Michel Platini’s all time record and his 16 Champions League goal was enough to win the laurel.
Serena Williams went home with the best female athlete of the year while Novak Djokovic grabbed the male version of the award.
